Little Bird Reiki

About
Hello. I’m Dominique. I am a fully qualified reiki practitioner. I completed my Reiki I training in 2019, and Reiki II in 2022. I am also an animal healer, and completed my animal healing diploma in 2025.
I provide in person healing from a treatment room in my home in Sandhurst, Berkshire, and from my clinic in Finchampstead, Berkshire where I provide healing treatments for both humans and animals.

What is reiki?
Reiki is a natural and holistic energy healing treatment that works with the mind-body connection. It stimulates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system and promotes the body’s natural ability to heal.
It is provided by a reiki practitioner to the patient by connecting to the universal life force energy (‘rei-ki’) which is channelled through the practitioner’s hands to the patient’s body.
The hands are placed on, or slightly above, specific parts of the patient’s body (the reiki hand positions) which are principally located around the chakras. There are seven chakras located throughout the body, starting a few inches above the head down to the base of the spine. Chakras are the body’s energy centres, through which reiki is received.
This energy stimulates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system (also known as the ‘rest and digest’ state) which creates a healing response and aids the body’s innate ability to heal itself, and restore balance and homeostasis.

How can reiki help you?
Throughout life we all encounter stresses and strains which can take a physical, emotional or chemical form. If left unaddressed this can cause dysfunction and dis-ease within the body which can manifest in various forms such as health conditions, illness, injury, pain, discomfort, lethargy, low mood, emotional and hormonal imbalances, and experiencing negative emotions such as anger, resentment, fear and anxiety.
Reiki is a holistic form of energy healing which works to assist the body as a whole in its innate ability to heal itself and bring the body back into balance. It can help with all types of dis-ease and dysfunction and has the following positive health benefits:-
- Promotes a feeling of relaxation and calmness
- Help with restful sleep and feeling better upon waking
- Promote emotional and hormonal balance
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Alleviate pain and discomfort
- Enhance the body’s ability to recover from illness, injury or surgery
- To increase comfort of persons terminally ill or nearing end of life
- Maintaining a good state of health and wellbeing
- Supports emotional healing related to shock, trauma, grief and sadness
During the treatment I will be drawn to certain areas of the body where healing is most needed through sensations of heat in my hands, and I will feedback to you on this at the end of the session.
Reiki is a natural, complimentary therapy that can be given alongside medical treatment and other alternative therapies. It is not a diagnostic tool and should not replace medical treatment. Feedback is therefore intended to provide a helpful insight into where your body may be out of balance and where healing is needed.
What to expect during and after a reiki treatment
Before
As reiki is a natural and non-invasive form of healing there are very few contraindications to treatment, however to ensure your safety and wellbeing I require your medical history before the first appointment can take place. We will discuss this during the initial consultation before the first treatment.
The treatment
Treatments are provided in a private room in my home which is located in Sandhurst, Berkshire, GU47 9, or from my reiki clinic in Finchampstead, Berkshire. Home visits are also available, subject to travel costs.
The healing will take place on a reiki bench which is similar to a massage couch. The removal of clothes is not required and wearing comfortable clothes is recommended. Healing can be provided with the client seated in a chair if required due to mobility issues.
Aftercare
The body takes approximately 24 – 48 hours to process the healing, and during that time you may feel different to how you felt prior to receiving the treatment. Common feelings after treatment are tiredness, needing more sleep than usual, improved sleep, deep sleep, vulnerability, sensitivity, a sense of calm, peacefulness, brighter mood, and increased energy.
We are all unique, and seek healing for different reasons. Therefore, whereas one person may feel lighter and calmer after their treatment, another may feel emotional and sensitive.
A quiet 24-48 hours is advised after the healing session, with plenty of water being drunk during that period. The lmypathic system is stimulated by reiki to expel toxins whilst your body processes the healing which may cause dehydration if not kept sufficiently hydrated.
Alcohol should be avoided after a reiki treatment as it may affect you more than usual.
Follow up treatments
The number of treatments required varies between patients and this will be discussed during the feedback period following the initial consultation and treatment.
Animal Reiki & Communication
Reiki can be given with hands on the body in the traditional reiki positions, or hands off, with them held a small distance away from the animal's body. This is particularly effective for animals that are nervous and or touch sensitive. This may improve over time as they start to develop trust and enjoy the benefits of reiki.
